Championship by the Numbers -
There are just over 320 days remaining until the 2008 U.S. Senior Open tees off.
Did you also know that -
- 150,000 spectators are estimated to attend over the course of the week.
- 13 National Championships are conducted annually by the USGA. The U.S. Senior Open is one of the newest; the first one was held in 1980.
- 156,000 lbs of ice will be used by the caterer and concessionaire.
- 10,350 meals will be donated by local restaurants for Volunteers and Championship Staff.
- 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel will be used to operate generators and rental equipment.
- 8,200 square feet will be the largest tent constructed; it will be the Merchandise Pavilion.
- 5,000 feet of temporary fencing will be installed.
- $723,724 in grants have been given to 23 different non-profit organizations in Colorado since 1997 by the USGA.
Congratulations Dr. Dirt -
Brad Bryant, also known as "Dr. Dirt" captured the title of 2007 U.S. Senior Open Champion, his first Major victory. Bryant started the final day five strokes behind the leader, Tom Watson, making his comeback the second largest in U.S. Senior Open history.
Bryant said after the win, "After you turn 50, it's the biggest event you can play in the rest of your life. To have my name on the same trophy as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus is an unbelievable honor."

Championship Fact
The Championship requires the assistance of 3,000 volunteers. To date, more than 2,600 have been recruited from 46 different states. Volunteers are still needed from Delaware, Kentucky, Maine and West Virginia to have all 50 states represented.
This would be the first time in U.S. Senior Open history that volunteers will have been recruited from all 50 states.
A Gift Fore The Holidays
Beginning in November, the Championship will offer a Holiday Gift Package. The Package will include:
- Two (2) Any-one-day Championship tickets
- One (1) Championship ball cap
- Two (2) Ticket lanyards
- One (1) Championship program voucher
- One (1) $5 gift card to the merchandise tent
- All packaged in a commemorative box
The package will be priced at $90 and will be available at King Soopers locations, on-line or by calling 877-281-OPEN.
